About SlayJ

#Slaytheset

AJ returned to the music scene in 2024 as SlayJ—back with intention, depth, and a sound that hits differently. Spinning since 2011, she’s played 35+ venues across NY, FL, and CT, known for tech house sets layered with funky grooves, memorable vocals, and unexpected twists that keep crowds locked in.

After a full-circle journey through her 20s behind the decks, SlayJ stepped into her 30s with renewed clarity and creative fire—expanding beyond DJing into songwriting and production. Her latest release, Satience, is a double EP that captures the full emotional spectrum of transition and release.

Satience is a word she created—blending sentience (the capacity to feel) and satiety (having had enough). The project unfolds as two expressions of the same emotion: five folk-inspired tracks that hold the raw feeling, and five reciprocal house versions that let those emotions move, breathe, and transform on the dance floor.

Honest, intentional, and deeply human—SlayJ’s work lives at the intersection of feeling and movement.

SATIENCE (Folk / Alternative EP)

Satience is an intimate, emotionally grounded folk/alternative EP written during a period of deep personal reckoning. Each song captures feeling in its rawest form—before resolution, before movement—allowing space for vulnerability, grief, clarity, and self-reflection to exist without rushing toward an answer.

The project leans into storytelling and stripped-back emotion, holding moments exactly as they were felt. Lyrics are honest and unfiltered, rooted in lived experience and the quiet processing that happens when life forces you to slow down and listen.

Satience is about feeling and living the human experience fully and honestly—without running, and with acceptance.

SATIENCE (Reciprocal House EP)

The reciprocal house version of Satience takes those same emotions and gives them motion. Built from the original folk songs, this EP translates feeling into rhythm—turning reflection into release.

These tracks are designed for movement, blending modern tech house energy with melodic hooks and emotional weight. Where the folk versions sit with the feeling, the house versions let it breathe, transform, and evolve—offering a sense of forward momentum without erasing what came before.

This EP lives on the dance floor, but it carries intention. It’s emotional music you can move to—proof that healing doesn’t always happen in stillness.

Reviews

When I got remarried, the DJ we hired ended up being horrible, but thankfully AJ saved the night! He didn’t play the music we wanted or requested, and the vibe was all wrong. My daughter ended up stepping in and taking over the booth. She played a funky house remix of our wedding song, and everyone went nuts. It completely changed the energy and made the night unforgettable.”
While DJing a private event at the Thompson Hotel at 60 LES NYC, a man approached me and said something I’ll never forget. He said, you have a great music style and absolutely crushed it tonight! I later learned he was Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz’s manager—a missed connection, but one that validated my craft in the highest way. - AJ”
The Owner of the bar just said he "caught the vibe" and you guys smashed it tonight. He was the one that originally told me it was a hard NO on DJ's. You guys ripped it, I am so happy. Everyone is beaming about you. You had people coming off the street into the venue because they could hear your music”
